The Original Series was the very first Lowden range from 1976, just as the ‘O’ model is George’s original Lowden body design. Although the medium-sized ‘F’, concert-sized ‘S’ and the small-bodied WL have been added to the range since then, the Lowden standard of passionate commitment to no compromise was well and truly set.
The first standard soundbox design was created by George (after much experimenting) in 1976 and the design has remained unaltered since. The second largest of the Lowden models after the Baritone, the ‘O’ has been likened to a ‘Jumbo’ style guitar. While at first glance this may seem accurate, the ‘O’, like all Lowdens, has a unique design and voice of its own. The soundbox geometry and the voicing of the bracing are both designed to increase treble response, which balances the natural bass-heavy tonal characteristics of such large-bodied guitars.
